Flying The 777 At first glance the 777 can be almost overwhelming especially if you have had little exposure to the flying commercial airliners in programs like X-Plane or even FSX. But, if you have used any of the PMDG products or even some of the more complicated ERJ's that are available you shouldn't have a problem jumping right in and learning the ins and outs of the this one. There is nothing short about a flight in a 777 and this plane was not meant to take you from KSFO to KPDX but was designed to take you on international flights that could have you going anywhere in the world and crossing the world's oceans. This doesn't mean you can't do that though, it just means that isn't what the plane was designed and or meant for.

I found that I was quite fond of the -200ER model as it has a good list of liveries and is ready to just jump in and go. I did find, however, that there is a bug in the 300 model that keeps the displays from working until you open the cabin door, yes you heard me correctly! You will need to open the cabin door in order to make the displays turn on and currently that is the only way to get around that problem until a patch is released.
For my first real test I went short, PAFA to PANC and for the time I spent setting the plane up for its flight it took less time getting where I needed to go. There is no DTO button on this FMC, so you actually have to set up your waypoints, figure in your fuel calculation, and program in the proper data, waypoints and intersections for VNAV and LNAV flight. The package does come with one route that is pre programmed for the FMC and they have you flying from EDDF-HECA and will have you in the air for roughly 8 hours. At first I went out online searching for a database of flights for this aircraft, but was only able to find one. Unfortunately certificate installer has stopped android.

So, I did some more reading and one of the forum posters recommended creating your own using a program like Plan G. At first I wasn't too keen on this idea because I wanted to just fly the 777 but after spending some time doing a little research I found that it wasn't too difficult and I was able to create the flight from PAFA to PANC in very little time and it was ultimately pretty fun! Mistakes can be made when creating said flight plans so it may take a couple times to really get the hang of it but once you learn some of the basics it shouldn't be too difficult to get yourself from point A to B in the Triple 7!
